General Updates

Ohio EPA Release 2024

NEW Rainwater and Land Development Update

A comprehensive revision of the Rainwater and Land Development manual (2006 version with updates through 2014) is underway. To revise and rebuild the entire manual in a timely manner, individual chapters and subchapters will be released as they are periodically updated. The manual may be accessed at: https://epa.ohio.gov/divisions-and-offices/surface-water/guides-manuals/rainwater-and-land-development.

Chapter 1.3 – Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3) is now available. This new subchapter includes guidance on writing an effective SWP3 for construction activity.

Chapter 1.3.1 – SWP3 Template is now available. This new chapter includes a voluntary template that can be used as a starting point when writing a SWP3.

UPDATED SWP3 Checklist

In coordination with the release of Chapter 1.3, an updated SWP3 checklist is available on the stormwater program webpage (https://epa.ohio.gov/divisions-and-offices/surface-water/permitting/stormwater-program, under the Construction Activities tab). Additionally two new checklists are posted for SWP3s requiring appendix A (Big Darby Creek Watershed) and Appendix B (Olentangy River Watershed).

This checklist is one tool that can be used to evaluate compliance with the SWP3 content requirements in Ohio EPA’s NPDES Construction stormwater General Permit.
